Rules and Regulations

  • All members must have current Colorado fishing license and all boats in the derby must display a current Colorado boat registration and have all required U.S coastguard equipment onboard.

  • All people fishing in the derby are responsible to know and follow all Colorado State fishing regulations.

  • Each team will consist of 2 members. Limit of 1 team per boat and no passengers. At least one member of each team must be a Firefighter, Law Enforcement or EMS personnel.

  • Derby limits: by species, Wipers: 2 fish over 12", Walleye: 5 fish over 18" but only 1 walleye over 21", Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass: 5 bass over 15", Trout: 4 fish over 12", Crappie: 20 fish. The above numbers are limits to be weighed in per team per day. Any fish less than minimum length will not be weighed. Any Bass less than 15" or any Walleye less than 18" are illegal to posses and must be returned to the water immediately. All Colorado Division of Wildlife rules and regulations apply,  any rules contained on this page that contradict those of the division of wildlife must be ignored.

  • Registration: will be held at the Tumbleweed Tavern located at the corner of McCulloch Blvd. and Joe Martinez Blvd. in Pueblo West on Wednesday between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. You must check in to receive your team number and any last minute instructions. If you cannot make this registration please let someone from the derby staff know ahead of time. 719-547-3929.

  • Fishing hours:  will be from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday  and 6:00am to 1:00 pm on Friday .

  • Entry Fee: $100.00 per team ( $110.00 after May 15 )

  • Weigh in: will be on the store dock in the North Shore Marina  at 4:00 pm on Thursday and 1:00 pm on Friday. All boats not inside the no wake buoy line of the north shore marina by these times will be docked 1 pound off that days weight for each minute late at the weigh masters discretion. So please don't be late. The weigh master will have final say on all maters concerning the weigh in.

  • All places will be determined by combining total weights from both days.

  • Someone from the derby staff will start the derby from the no wake buoy line of the North Shore Marina at 6:00 am both mornings. Please be on time.

  • This derby's success and the reputation of those who serve the public rely on the good conduct and honesty of all participants.
